Are You Afraid of Green Monsters??


I finally broke down and tried one of the Green Monster Smoothies I've heard about.  I loved it, loved it, loved it. 
I started with a recipe on Jack Sh*t Getting Fit's blog and modified it to fit the ingredients that I had...  Check out his recipe and then make it like I did...  lol.

Ingredients

2 large handfuls fresh spinach
1 large frozen banana, cut into chunks
1 T almond butter
1 c skim milk
1 T almond extract (this was a bit of an oops, I was going to only put in a teaspoon, but it worked out really well, anyway)
1/2 scoop protein isolate powder (Now Sports Whey Protein Isolate from Shirlynn's)

Directions

Place spinach and milk in blender. Start on low and move up to high. Add banana, almond butter, protein isolate and almond extract and blend on medium, shifting to high when it starts to come together. Add ice cubes and pulse a few times, then blending until thick.

This sounds tasty. I love smoothies :) This morning, had one with plums and plain non-fat yogurt and honey and wheat germ. Delicious. Where do you get almond butter? At the regular grocery store near peanut butter?

I get almond butter at Costco. They have a really good price on it and it doesn't have added sugar / corn syrup.
I haven't really looked in the regular grocery store for it. I have seen it in the healthier natural chain stores though. (like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's)
