Weekly Weigh-In (Week 22)

What a crazy volatile month it's been! I finished my biggest loser contest at almost precisely today's weigh-in. After that UP, down, UP and this week DOWN to 162.

I relaxed a bit too much after the contest and then got back on track only to have my hormones throw me for another loop... but that's all behind me now. I lost 3.8 pounds this week, and 2.8 of it was gone by Thursday... (probably just water weight).

I read an article this week about how to tell if the changes you are implementing / making are permanent lifestyle changes are not. It said to give the behavior a little test... ask yourself "could I do this everyday for the rest of my life?"

So I've given that idea a bit of thought. Right now I'm building habits to take me through the rest of my life and the more solid those habits are the better off I'll be once I make it to the maintenance stage. Being ultra strict and then relaxing without tracking and planning didn't work.

Importantly, I could see that it could all happen again. I think I know what the rest of my life is going to look like... but I've still got to plan and do it with intention, because part of me really remembers the other path. The other path is just not as healthy and I don't look as good on it...

So...I toasted you with my coffee on Sunday morning. Way to go on 3.8 for this week. That's great!

I'm feeling pretty good about the "rest of my life" on this path. It feels a lot more reasonable and doable to me than the last time I lost the weight. And goodness knows it's better than the eat-everything-you-can-cram-down-your-gullet way I've been eating the past few years. yikes! What was I thinking?
