A Scorpion does what a Scorpion does...

Dialog from my favorite scene in the movie "The Crying Game".

"There are two kinds of people. Those who give those who take. ...TWO types, Fergus. The Scorpion and the Frog. Ever heard of em?...

A scorpion wants to cross the river but he can't swim. Goes to a frog who can and asks for a ride. Frog says, 'If I give you a ride, you'll go and sting me.' Scorpion replies, 'It would not be in my interest to sting you since I'll be on your back. We both will drown.'

Frog thinks about his logic for a bit and accepts the deal. Takes the scorpion on his back, braves the waters. Halfway over, feels a burning spear in his side and realizes the scorpion has stung him after all and as they both sink beneath the waves, the frog cries out, 'Why did you sting me Mr. Scorpion, for now we both will drown?!?

Scorpion replies, 'I can't help it, it's in my nature.'

"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Means what it says, a scorpion does what's in it's nature"

and Going and Going

Last night I blew off exercising, but was back on it early this morning. I was so tired this morning but I knew I needed to get back at it or nothing was going to change. I let myself off easy, as I only did 12 minutes, but I made up for it tonight by doing the full 20.
I need to work something out so I get my fruits and veggies. As of yet this is still a goal. Does the lettuce on a tuna melt count as a salad??? ;)

Getting Going

So far, so good. I'm not minding the evening workout so much, but so far I really am not a fan of the early morning workout. I'm hoping that this will become easier as I go.

I said I will do it and I'm doing it. Go me!

Home Again

Kenzie looked so good when her Dad and I saw her at the hospital. She went on a couple of walks while we visited. She's doing so good, she is really doing what she can to get better.
Many thanks to her "bossy" mom for pushing Kenz to go just a bit further than before, to move around and get stronger so she could go home. We all need a personal trainer at times, not to mention our Mommy.
Husband did pretty good as well to be there so much, especially the first few days. He was pushing himself pretty hard for awhile there. He seems to be recovering from all that work.
Tough week for all of them.
By this time now, Kenz has been home for a few hours. After that many days in the hospital it's gotta be so great getting out of there! I'm glad Mom and Daughter are home and they get to sleep in their own bed tonight. The two of you did great! I'm glad you are home and everything went so well. Love you!

What's Next

We're almost done with Summer and the girls have moved out for the school year :( sniff! So the house is quieter and I'm considering what I'm going to do to fill the skads of freetime ahead. (joke) I'm pretty busy most of the time, so between housework and laundry most of the time just slips by. Seems time is a lot like money... If you don't decide what you are going to spend it on it just seems to spend itself.
I got a new look for the blog and I'm all excited about it. I think that it's motivating and makes me think about all the many goals I want and need to set for myself.
There are so many things I could do, but I think working on my weight has got to become a priority. I had a dream last night and in it I was explaining to someone that I haven't always been this heavy, (they were meeting me for the first time and they said that they had pictured me a lot thinner). I explained that in fact I had never weighed this much in my entire life. (pregnancy included) That was the end of the dream, but in all the other dreams I had I felt bad about myself and keplt thinking that I was embarrased by the way I looked.
After waking I didn't feel so terribly insecure but I did feel that my dream was me preparing me and pushing me to take action. It's time.
So now I straighten up the kitchen and throw in a load of laundry and once that is done I'll set out to develop the plan of action for the next week at least. More later... So much to do!

August Fun with the Daughters

There is nothing like dressing up in pretty dresses to keep your mind off of the inevitable. The girls decided this would provide the best presurgery distraction out there. They had a ton of fun. This actually all went down on 08/08/08! They're not always scary! Lol.

I scare you?
